For many years Viv wanted to ride in a tank.  At the age of 90, we (Jon and Rachael) took her to Galloway Tanks where she finally acheived her dream.  It was run by the wonderful Steve Hanna.  Together with a few other enthusiasts she was driven around 2 laps of the most muddy, undulating and flooded off-road course.  She was beside herself with excitement and enjoyed every moment of it.  It was amazing to be part of it with her and see just how much she enjoyed it.

Afterwards, whilst having coffee with the other guests that day (about 5 other people) and enjoying a history lesson with Steve's military collection - mum brought out some items of her own.  She had brought along her Land Army memorablia.  She showed us her photos from those days, how she dressed and looked, her veterans badge and hat pin from her uniform, the letter from the govt when the Land Army disbanded and her memories were so precious and wonderful to hear.  I was in tears not only because of what mum recalled and showed us, but to see the emotional connection and interest of the others present - it was a beautiful moment for everyone.
